OMEGA CHRISTIAN WRITERS

Ruth Bonetti and Sharli Zwart formed Omega Writers in September 1991 to support and encourage Christian writers. Based in Brisbane, distance members have been affiliated from as far away as Darwin and Sydney.

Members’ work has been published in fields as diverse as novels, journalism (social and family issues, travel), books for readers with intellectual disabilities, drama, poetry, theology, devotions, music and illustration. Some members’ novels have been translated into Braille; others have recorded their material on radio or have produced original cantatas.

In 1994, Omega Writers presented
Gallery, a performance of writers’ work enhanced by music, art, drama, spiritual dance and graphics, to an audience of about 900 people.

Four years later, a volume of stories, poems and other writings entitled
Seasons of Giving was published. Most stories derived from true situations.

In 2007, the group also backed the inaugural Alpha 2 Omega Literary and Dramatic Arts Convention, which still organises an annual Poetry and Short Story Competition. See website: HYPERLINK "http://www.alpha2omega.org.au"

Omega Writers continues now as a more informal group of like-minded people who meet on the FIRST Sunday afternoon of February, April, June, August, October and December to encourage one another with their current writing projects. There is no longer a regular newsletter, but neither is there any joining fee. Anyone who desires to serve the Lord through the gift of writing can be assured of a warm welcome.

Lyn Hurry continues to coordinate the Omega group. You may contact her through the Queensland Writers Centre or by emailing:
